Deer Chased by Two Dogs to the Left is a 1637 ink by Stefano Della Bella, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
You see a deer running left. Two dogs chase it fast. Trees and hills fill the background. The deer looks scared. This is an etching, not a painting. Etchings use acid to cut lines into metal plates. The artist then prints the image from those plates. Della Bella made this in 1646. Check out Della Bella, Stefano to compare his style.
Stefano della Bella (18 May 1610 – 12 July 1664) was an Italian draughtsman and printmaker known for etchings of a great variety of subjects, including military and court scenes, landscapes, and lively genre scenes.
