Koutaya. (Asie Mineure) is a 1848 watercolor by Alexander Matwjejewitsch Dorogoff, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This watercolor shows a quiet village scene with stone houses and wooden balconies. People walk along a dirt path, some leading horses. A lone tree stands near a small church or chapel. The buildings look old, with uneven walls and tiled roofs. The artist used soft browns and grays, giving the whole scene a faded, dreamy look. The light feels warm but gentle, like late afternoon. A watercolour drawing titled *Koutaya. (Asie Mineure)* by Alexander Matwjejewitsch Dorogoff, dated 1848, was later reproduced as Plate 8 in Part I of Pierre de Tchihatcheff’s seven-part atlas *Asie Mineure*, published between 1853 and 1869. The work entered the collection of Walter T. Spencer before being acquired by Rodney Searight.
