About this work

This sketch shows a narrow street corner with old buildings. The walls are rough, and the windows have wooden shutters. A broom leans against one wall, and two people stand near a doorway, one holding a hat. The ground looks wet, and the whole scene is drawn in simple, dark lines. The artist focused on everyday life in a city street, using quick, sketchy marks. The buildings have a worn, lived-in look, and the people seem small in the scene.
