La rencontre sous la voute (1ère planche) (The Meeting under the Arch) (first plate) is a 1910 ink by Jean-Louis Forain, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows three people walking under a big archway. The person on the left wears a long coat and a hat, carrying something in their arms. The person in the middle is bent slightly forward, and the one on the right has a long dress and holds a bag. Behind them, there’s a simple house with a chimney and bare trees. The lines are loose and quick, like a sketch made fast. The paper has a textured look, typical of older prints. Check out etching to see how artists like Forain used acid and needles to make prints.
