Six Heads, a Turk in Front is a 1780 ink by Gaetano Gandolfi, a Romanticism work, depicting Headscarf, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a small etching on paper. It shows six side-view faces in a row. The faces are simple lines and shading. The man in front wears a turban. The faces look similar. They could be the same person drawn six times. The artist used drypoint, scratching lines into metal. This makes crisp edges and soft shadows. Look up Gandolfi, Gaetano next.
Gaetano Gandolfi (31 August 1734 – 20 June 1802) was an Italian painter, draughtsman and sculptor of the late Baroque period, mainly active in and around Bologna.
