Tanka women and children is a 16 by George Chinnery, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Five studies in a drawing from an album of 130 works depict a boatwoman wearing a head kerchief, shown in various poses with one or two children beside her. The album, bequeathed in 1928, contains 93 drawings by George Chinnery and was created during his time in Macau, Guangzhou, and nearby areas. Chinnery, an artist born in London in 1774, established himself as a leading portrait painter in British India before relocating to Macau in 1825, where he remained until his death in 1852.
