This painting shows a quiet river in the foreground with a single swan gliding across it. On the other side, there’s a row of small red houses with chimneys puffing smoke. Behind them, a huge stone cathedral with tall spires looms over the scene. The sky is soft and pale, almost blending with the buildings. The artist used loose, watery brushstrokes to capture light bouncing off the river and buildings. The colors are muted—earthy reds, grays, and blues—making the whole scene feel calm.
