Les Roses: Rosa cinnamomea is a 1820 by Henry Joseph Redouté, a Romanticism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This painting shows a single rose stem with three buds and three blooms. The biggest flower is pale pink with a darker center, while the others are smaller and still closed. Thin green leaves grow along the red-brown stem. The background is plain white, letting the plant stand out. The names at the bottom—*Rosa cinnamomea* and *Roser de Mai*—tell us the type of rose and its French name. These were often used in botanical prints to identify plants.
