Le sentier au bord de la rivière et le petit pont du bois is a 1646 by Herman Naiwinx, a Baroque work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This print shows a quiet forest scene with a winding path and a small bridge. Trees fill the left side, their branches tangled and dense. The river cuts through the middle, its surface rough with quick, sketchy lines. Above, the sky is light but full of swirling marks—like wind or mist. The bridge in the center is barely more than a few planks, almost hidden by the trees. It’s the only sign of people in this wild, untamed landscape. Herman Naiwinx (1623–1670) was a Dutch artist, born in Schoonhoven.
