Vue et perspective du Château de Versailles, de dedans l'anti-cour is a 1664 by Israël Silvestre, a Baroque work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This drawing shows a busy courtyard in front of a grand palace. The building has tall windows, columns, and a bridge over a canal. In the courtyard, many people walk, some ride horses, and others drive carriages pulled by horses. The sky is light with a few clouds, and the ground looks wet or muddy. The artist focused on showing how big and detailed the palace was, with lots of tiny figures to give a sense of scale. This was made in 1664 for someone who wanted to show off the palace’s grandeur.
