Vue du Château du Versailles, du côté de l'Orangerie, prise au delà de la pièce d'eau des Suisses is a 1730 by Jacques Rigaud, a Baroque work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This print shows a big palace surrounded by gardens and water. Trees line the edges, and people in fancy clothes walk or sit near the shore. Some ride horses, others talk in groups. The sky is light with soft clouds, and the whole scene looks calm and orderly. The text at the bottom names the place: Versailles. It’s a view from the side of the palace’s orangery, looking across a pond. Want to know more? Check out the Baroque movement for how this style shaped art.
