Untitled is a 1919 by W.J. Knight, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This drawing shows a carved oak panel with a face framed by swirling leaves and ribbons. The design looks like it’s wrapped around the person’s head, with curly hair and smooth lines for the face. The background has a border of leaves and knots, and the whole thing is outlined in bold, clean lines. The title says it came from an old house near Waltham Abbey in Essex. The drawing includes a scale at the bottom, showing it’s about 18 inches wide. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more of this kind of detailed craftwork.
A 1919 half-inch scale drawing by W.J. Knight depicts a medallion carved into oak paneling from a 16th-century house near Waltham Abbey, Essex. The drawing was one of five created to document the room for the 1924 Victoria and Albert Museum publication *The Panelled Rooms: VI. The Waltham Abbey Room*. The room, previously displayed in the museum (accession no. 2011-1899), is now represented in the British Galleries, where one panel remains on view.
