This painting shows a stage set for a scene that looks like a tropical garden. Palm trees line a wooden terrace with a hammock hanging under a thatched roof. In the distance, there’s a small white building with a dome and a body of water beyond it. The colors are soft and muted, with lots of green from the plants and browns from the wood and earth. The artist used watercolor and ink to create a dreamy, slightly faded look. The stage design was meant to look like a faraway place, maybe somewhere exotic. If you like this kind of scene, check out the technique: watercolor, glazing.
