Donnybrook Fair is a 1825 by Daniel Maclise, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This sketch is packed with people and chaos. A big crowd fills a room—some are fighting, others are watching. There’s a huge pot in the middle, maybe for food or trouble. Clothes look old, and the whole scene feels messy and alive. Look closer at the faces. Some are laughing, some are angry. The artist drew fast, like they were trying to catch movement before it vanished. Want to see more sketches like this? Check out Maclise, Daniel (RA).
A pen and ink drawing by Daniel Maclise depicts a chaotic scene at a fair in Dublin, where groups of men are engaged in fights in the foreground. The background features banners advertising attractions such as a pair of giants, a Chinese juggler, and a horsemanship show. On the reverse side of the drawing is another work titled *The Wonderful Tune*.
