The New Church of the Beautiful Virgin at Regensburg is a 1520 ink by Michael Ostendorfer, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a black-and-white drawing of a tall, ornate church. The building has two sharp spires, lots of detailed carvings, and big round windows with star-like designs. Two angels float above the roof, and people walk around the base of the church. The artist used a printing method called woodcut, where the image is carved into wood and then inked. This was a common way to share detailed images before photography. Next, check out the technique: woodcut.
Michael Ostendorfer (1490–1559) was an artist.
