This print shows a Greek island where white walls meet bright blue sea under a hot sun. Alfred Pohl made this woodcut in Peru, far from Greece, yet kept the Mediterranean light alive. He used color in a special way. The bright reds and yellows don’t just sit flat—they seem to glow from inside the paper. That trick makes the shadows feel warm, not cold. Pohl studied indigenous art in Colombia. If you like this bold style, try his other prints.
