Overview

This albumen print depicts Adelina Patti and was produced by Raschkow in 1850 using a glass negative, typical of the period's theatrical portraiture. It was originally attached to a stiff card backing as part of a carte de visite, a small photographic format popularized in the 1860s for collecting and exchanging portraits. The image is among a large collection of cartes de visite and cabinet cards compiled by Guy Tristram Little, which he later donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum.
