About this work

This photo shows Adelina Patti, a famous singer from the 1800s. It’s a cabinet card, a type of photograph on stiff cardboard. Cabinet cards became popular in the 1870s and were stronger than earlier photo cards. Back then, actors and singers often posed for these pictures.
