About this work

This print shows three figures in a dim setting. An older man with a long beard sits between two women, one holding a staff with a curved top. The women look at him, one with a serious face, the other resting her hand on his arm. The background is dark, making the faces stand out clearly. The title at the bottom says it’s called *Lot and his Daughters*, but the story behind it isn’t visible. The print was made by copying an older painting, which explains the dramatic lighting and soft shading. Look up chiaroscuro to see how this strong contrast between light and dark works.
