About this work

In 2007 the Victoria and Albert Museum marked 150 years at its South Kensington site. The museum invited 150 people to contribute a page to an album. Paul Simmons made a drawing for this special project. Each page could be a drawing, design, sketch, graphic, or even words. Simmons chose a drawing to respond to the museum’s call. His page celebrated the V&A’s long history and rich collections. Check out more art by Paul Simmons.

The story of this work

Overview

For the Victoria and Albert Museum’s 150th anniversary in 2007, Paul Simmons contributed a page featuring a semi-abstract composition of root and tree-like forms. The album page was one of 150 created by leading artists, designers, architects, and photographers to express their inspiration drawn from the museum’s collections. Simmons’ contribution appears in volume three of the three-volume album, which contains 60 pages in total.
