About this work

This is a row of tall, flat panels nailed to a wall. Each one is a single, bold color—red, blue, yellow, purple, orange—with no images or brushstrokes showing through. The colors fade slightly at the edges, like they’ve been painted thick. The space around them is empty, just a plain floor and ceiling. The panels look like they’re made from scrap wood, some with rough edges or dents. The way the colors line up makes the wall feel longer than it is. The bright red at the start stands out, then the blues and yellows mix it up. If you like simple, bold colors like this, check out impasto.
