About this work

This sketch shows a quiet snowy town with simple wooden houses. Smoke rises from chimneys, and a horse-drawn sleigh rests in the street. In the background, a large building with a dome and columns stands out against the pale sky. The artist used light pencil strokes to build up shapes, almost like a soft sketch. The snow covers everything, giving the scene a calm, cold feel. Look up cross-hatching to see how artists create shading with lines.
