Colab (Collaborative Projects, Inc.) was a loose, non-hierarchical collective of New York City artists founded in 1978 that rejected the traditional gallery system in favor of collaborative, often large-scale public exhibitions. The group is best known for organizing the 1980 Times Square Show, a pivotal event that helped launch the careers of many key figures in the 1980s downtown art scene.
