Museum Alex Mylona

The MOMus-Museum Alex Mylona is an art museum in Athens, Greece, dedicated to contemporary sculpture and the work of the Greek sculptor Alex Mylona. Located in the Thiseion area at the edge of the Psirri neighbourhood, it operates as the Department of Contemporary Sculpture within the Metropolitan Organisation of Thessaloniki Fine Arts Museums (MOMus). The museum was established in 2004 as the Museum of Contemporary Art Alex Mylona with a dual purpose: to present the life and work of Alex Mylona (1923-2016) and to provide exhibition space for young artists. In 2007, the institution was organisationally integrated into the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki. A further restructuring came in 2018, when it became one of the five museums and cultural sites of the newly formed Metropolitan Organisation of Thessaloniki Fine Art Museums (MOMus), a consolidation that linked it administratively with the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art and the State Museum of Contemporary Art collections.

The museum's permanent collection encompasses the full range of Mylona's long artistic career, with particular emphasis on her sculptural work. Beyond sculpture, the holdings include drawings, paintings, collages, tapestries, and prints, documenting her engagement across multiple media. The building's early twentieth-century architectural character, combining neo-classical forms with Art Nouveau decorative details, provides a distinctive setting for the display of contemporary sculpture.

The museum is situated in central Athens, in the Thiseion area near Psirri, within the Athens Municipality. It operates as part of the MOMus network, with administrative oversight from the Metropolitan Organisation of Thessaloniki Fine Arts Museums.
