Gu Tianzh was a Chinese painter known for the work Landscape in the Style of Huang Gongwang. The title reflects a long-standing literati practice of painting in the manner of an admired earlier master, in this case Huang Gongwang (1269 to 1354), one of the Four Masters of the Yuan dynasty, whose dry brushwork and layered mountain forms were widely emulated by later landscape painters.
