Master of Eggenburg
Master of Eggenburg is a Northern Renaissance painter. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Metropolitan Museum of Art, most of them oil paintings.
Master of Eggenburg is the conventional name given to an anonymous Austrian painter active in the late fifteenth century, roughly between 1475 and 1500, in Lower Austria. The designation derives from works associated with the town of Eggenburg. Working in the Late Gothic style then current in the region, the artist produced panel paintings of religious subjects.
As with many masters identified by a notname rather than a documented identity, the surviving works are grouped together on the basis of shared style and handling.
