Master of the Salemer Altar is a conventional name for an unidentified German painter, active in the early sixteenth century around 1480 onward. The name comes from an altarpiece connected with Salem in southern Germany. Working in the tradition of late Gothic and early Renaissance German religious painting, the master produced devotional panels in oil, among them an Annunciation to the Virgin.
As with other such masters, the name groups works of a single hand whose true identity, training, and full biography are not documented.
