Chen Zhaofeng was a Chinese painter who worked for the imperial court during the late Qing dynasty. Little of his art survives, but the surviving examples show considerable technical skill. His style follows that of the eighteenth-century court painter Shen Quan, known for meticulous, decorative depictions of birds, animals, and flowers.
A representative work, Crane, Pine, and Rock, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, combines emblems of longevity and would have been suitable for display at a celebratory court occasion such as an imperial birthday. He painted in the careful, auspicious manner favored by the late imperial palace.
