Master of Lecceto

Master of Lecceto is the conventional name given to an anonymous Sienese painter active in the third quarter of the fifteenth century. Like other such notnames, it was assigned by art historians to group works that share a single hand whose true identity is unknown, in this case drawing on an association with the convent of Lecceto near Siena. His style is closely indebted to Giovanni di Paolo, with a narrative, somewhat naive manner.

Among the works attributed to him are painted cassone panels, including a marriage chest depicting the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
