Zhao Yan is a Song dynasty painting artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at National Palace Museum.

Zhao Yan painted silk scrolls of emperors and nobles in the early Song Dynasty. Two of their works survive: Eight Princes on a Spring Excursion and another silk piece dated about 1000. Both show court life from a thousand years ago, when emperors rode out to enjoy spring and artists recorded every robe and horse.
