The Beautiful Virgin of Ratisbon on an Altar is a 1520 by Albrecht Altdorfer, a Renaissance work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This black-and-white print shows a woman holding a baby inside an arched altar. Around her, angels with wings play musical instruments and hold up decorations. The altar itself has a small empty frame in the front, like a window, and the whole scene looks carved from wood. The woman’s calm face and the baby’s tiny hands suggest a religious theme.
