This sketch shows a boy sitting on the ground, holding a dog in his lap. The boy wears a striped cap and a loose shirt. His face is simple but expressive, with quick, confident lines. The dog looks alert, its body turned slightly away from him. The background is almost blank, letting the two figures stand out. Notice how the artist used lots of overlapping lines to fill in shadows and shapes. This makes the drawing look textured and full of movement, even though it’s just pencil and ink. If you like this style, look up cross-hatching to see how it works.
