Paris Almanac, 1897: Decorative Border, Winter is a 1897 by Auguste Lepère, a Impressionism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This image is a decorative border for a calendar page. It’s shaped like a giant letter "H" with "HIVER" (French for "winter") in the middle. Inside the top part, there’s a black-and-white scene of people dancing under the stars. On the left, two people sit at a table with books and papers. The right side shows a fancy party with a masked figure and a skull. The bottom is packed with objects like hats, umbrellas, and musical instruments. The dancing scene at the top looks like a winter ball, while the skull on the right adds a spooky touch. The whole thing feels like a mix of celebration and mystery.
