Rouen Illustré: La Gros Horloge is a 1888 by Auguste Lepère, a Impressionism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This drawing shows a busy street lined with old buildings. At the center stands a tall clock tower with a big round clock face and a spire on top. People walk below, some carrying bags or umbrellas, while others stand in groups. The buildings have narrow windows and steep roofs, and the whole scene looks a bit rainy or misty. The clock tower is called *La Gros Horloge*—that’s French for "the big clock." It’s a real landmark in Rouen, a city in France. Look up The Cleveland Museum of Art to see where this drawing is kept.
Louis-Auguste Lepère (30 November 1849 – 20 November 1918) was a French painter and etcher. Lepère is also considered a leader in the creative revival of wood engraving in Europe.
