Untitled is a 1893 watercolor by Beatrix Potter, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a woven basket hanging from a hook. The basket is round with a tight, spiral pattern, made of straw or reeds. Above it, a smaller ring of woven material is attached, like a handle or a lid. The artist focused on texture, making the basket look real with careful brushstrokes. It’s simple but detailed—no extra colors or fancy backgrounds. Want to see more? Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to find this piece in person.
The artwork is a watercolour drawing over pencil depicting the exterior of a hinged wicker basket divided into two oval sections, with the top partially hidden by a large blank label tied to the hinge with string. It was created by Beatrix Potter in 1893 and later donated by Leslie Linder to the National Book League (now the Book Trust) in 1970 as part of the Linder Collection, which includes 279 drawings and 38 early editions of her work. The collection was previously on long-term loan to the Victoria and Albert Museum from 1989 to 2019 through The Linder Trust.
