Peisaj is a 1850 unspecified by Alexander Kellock Brown, depicting Mountain, held at National Museum of Art of Romania.
A lone figure stands in a wide, open field, holding what looks like a stick or tool. The ground is patchy with dry grass and wild plants, while the sky above is pale and hazy. In the distance, faint hills stretch across the horizon, barely defined by brushstrokes. The painting feels loose, almost sketchy, with thick paint in places—especially near the grass and the person’s dark clothing. The artist didn’t smooth everything out; some areas look rough and textured. This style is called impasto.
Alexander Kellock Brown was a Scottish painter of landscapes and brother of the sculptor William Kellock Brown. He painted in oils and water-colors and exhibited frequently at the Royal Scottish Academy exhibits between 1871 and 1922.
