Untitled is a 1855 paint by William Carpenter, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting is a portrait of a Singiwala woman, a member of a nomadic community in north-west India and Pakistan known for traditional wound treatment using cupping horns. William Carpenter, who spent years traveling and painting in India from 1850 to 1856, created the work during his journeys, often dressing in local attire. The portrait reflects Carpenter’s focus on costume, daily life, and regional customs among the communities he encountered. It was acquired by the British Museum in 1881 as part of a larger collection of his Indian works.
