Between Brixen and Bolzano, North Italy, Storm Effect is a 1750 watercolor by John Robert Cozens, a Rococo painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a rocky mountain rising from a misty valley. The top of the mountain has a small, ruined building with a tower. Below, dark trees fill the lower half, while the sky above is swirled with pale blues and grays. The artist used soft, watery strokes to blur the edges of the clouds and rocks, making everything look distant and dreamy. The light is dim, as if the storm is about to break. Next, check out Cozens, John Robert to see how he painted other misty landscapes.
A scene in the Tyrol, situated between Brixen and Bolzano, depicts the effects of a storm and passing showers, rendered with minimal pen work and completed in color.
