Cerito (sic) in the Silphide. (sic) is a 1845 by N. Currier, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This print shows Fanny Cerrito dancing in *La Sylphide*, a ballet that shaped styles in the 1830s–40s. The airy spirit heroine was a big hit with audiences. Cerrito’s lively style made her one of the stars. Currier printed this image using lithography, a new way to make many copies fast. The technique used ink on stone to spread the dancer’s fame wider than the stage. Look up the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more Romantic prints.
