Sea Piece: Arab Dhow in the foreground, Ship in the distance is a 1790 watercolor by William Daniell, a British Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a small boat with red sails fighting through rough waves. The water is choppy, with white foam crashing around it. In the background, another ship sits calm and far away, while a rocky shore appears on the right. The artist used light and dark colors to make the stormy waves stand out. The boat looks like it’s struggling, but the sky above is bright, almost like a contrast. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see this painting in person.
A seascape depicts two vessels, with an Arab dhow positioned prominently in the foreground and a second ship visible farther away on the horizon.
