Tomb with Death Standing is a 1782 ink by Louis Jean Desprez, a Romanticism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This etching shows a tomb with a large arch above it. Under the arch stands a skeleton wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a long robe, holding a cross. On either side of the tomb, two more skeletons sit on the ground, each holding a hat. The tomb itself has a small window and a carved panel below it. The artist used shading to make the scene feel eerie and dramatic. The skeletons look almost like people, which makes the image unsettling.
