Ralph Brownrig is a 1661 ink by William Faithorne, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a black-and-white portrait of a serious-looking man in old-fashioned clothes. He’s holding a folded paper in his right hand, and his left hand rests on a book. The background is plain, but the edges of the oval frame are decorated with musical notes and text. The poem below the portrait calls him a "Prelate," which means a church leader. His clothes and the style of the engraving look like they’re from the 1600s. If you like this style, check out the technique: engraving.
William Faithorne (1616–1691) was a British artist, born in Greater London.
