This sketch shows three people in a dim room. One person stands by a table, holding what looks like a tray or a cloth. The other two sit at the table, one with their hands up like they’re surprised or listening. The lines are loose and quick, almost like a hurried drawing. The artist used lots of shading with ink washes to give the scene a rough, unfinished feel. It looks like they were working fast, maybe practicing shapes and light before a bigger painting. Next, check out cross-hatching to see how artists build up dark areas with layered lines.
