Conversation is a 1998 by Lucian Freud, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Lucian Freud’s print *Conversation* shows two seated figures. He made it using a photo as a guide. It’s part of a big group of etchings Freud and his printer Marc Balakjian worked on together. Freud made this after one of the women passed away. The plate got scratched during printing. He asked to fix it before the final version. Lucian Freud
This etching by Lucian Freud from 1998 depicts two women in a close composition, shown from the shoulders up; one figure smokes while the other holds a cup and saucer. The work is part of a series of 143 proofs, trial prints, and cancellation proofs produced with printer Marc Balakjian, who collaborated with Freud on his etchings. The subjects are Susanna Chancellor and her mother-in-law, Lady Chancellor, with the print created after the latter’s death. The plate underwent adjustments, including the removal of a deep scratch, as documented in proofs numbered 6A and 6B.
