Hindu Village (Das Hindudorf) is a 1925 ink by Paul Gangolf, held at National Gallery of Art.
This etching shows a crowded village scene with lots of people and animals. The lines are scratchy and busy, filling every inch of the paper. Some figures stand tall, others crouch or move in groups, while buildings and trees mix into the chaos. The artist used a technique called drypoint, where sharp tools scratch directly into the metal plate. This creates rough, textured lines that give the whole scene a restless feel. Look up technique: drypoint to see how it works.
