Part of the Great Joss House, Inner Harbour, Macao is a 4 by George Chinnery, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
George Chinnery made this drawing in 1833. It shows a temple in Macau by the harbor, with boats lined up and flags on tall poles. He caught a busy scene with people, boats, and temple details just as they were. The drawing uses small marks to make light and shadow. Look up the Victoria and Albert Museum if you want to see more.
This drawing depicts a view of the A-Ma Temple in Macau from the Inner Harbour, featuring Tanka boats along the sea wall and banners flying from two masts above. It is part of a volume containing 130 drawings made in Macau, Guangzhou, and nearby areas. The work was bequeathed in 1928 by James Orange as part of an album with 93 drawings by George Chinnery, who lived in Macau from 1825 until his death in 1852.
