Studies of cattle is a 13 by George Chinnery, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
George Chinnery drew these cattle studies in 1833. The sheet has ten cow and calf sketches plus one figure in a wide hat. It’s a quick, lively look at animals from all sides. The artist caught movement in simple lines. Cows and calves overlap like a farmer’s notes, not a polished showpiece. Look up the Victoria and Albert Museum to see this sheet.
The drawing consists of ten studies of cattle, including cows and calves depicted from various angles, alongside a single standing figure wearing a broad-brimmed hat. Part of an album containing 93 sheets of sketches made in China, it was bequeathed in 1928 by James Orange. The studies reflect observations likely made during George Chinnery’s residence in Macau, where he worked from 1825 until his death in 1852.
