View of Hastings is a 1815 watercolor by William Havell, a British Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This watercolor shows a quiet countryside scene with a winding path and a few people walking. In the foreground, a woman in a red dress holds a parasol while two others walk behind her. Shepherds tend to a small herd of sheep and cows grazing on grass. A rocky cliff rises on the left, and a distant town sits at the base of rolling hills. The artist used soft, light colors to show the gentle landscape, with clouds drifting over the hills. The scene feels peaceful, like a moment frozen in time. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see this painting in person.
