Antwerp Cathedral is a 1649 ink by Wenceslaus Hollar, a Baroque work, depicting Grote Kerk, held at National Gallery of Art.
This etching shows Antwerp Cathedral standing tall behind a low stone bridge. The light hits the church’s tall spires and big front doors just right. You can see tiny people walking on the bridge—some look like ants from far away. It’s one of the few detailed prints of this church from the 1600s. The artist didn’t just copy the building. He used shadows and lines to make it feel real, like you could step into the scene. Want to see more like this? Look up etching.
