This etching shows three ornate vases covered in wild creatures and leafy swirls. Saly carved these designs while in Rome, mixing old vase shapes with his own weird fantasy animals. He trained as a sculptor but turned these into prints. The vases look solid but the monsters crawling over them feel playful, not scary. See more like this at The Cleveland Museum of Art.
